Great civilizations - why do they fail?

Yesterday I watched the historical drama film 'Agora' released in 2009 that was originally in Spanish and translated to English. The movie revolves around a philosopher, mathematician and astronomer called Hypatia, played by Rachel Weisz, during the Roman empire and her discoveries to understand heliocentric model of solar system in the midst of turmoil of religious unrest. Its quiet unfortunate that such a great civilization which was so advanced in thinking, culture and acceptance was lost to the mob riots. As the movie depicts, Roman empire has taught us gender equality, social acceptance, creative and forward thinking but also the other side of the fall due to religious intolerance and unguided domination.       Agora, named after public gathering in ancient Greece (Alexandria in particular), is an exceptionally great movie to understand why civilizations have failed in the past. Roman empire prospered as it was more advanced than other cultures. B...

Gastric problem - home remedy that worked for me!

I always believed in the home remedies and here is one that I found worked for Gastric. My type of gastric is more of gas rather than acid.  Ingredients needed are - 5 tablespoon each of      a) Black Jeera     b) Ajwain     c) Dry Ginger     d) Fennel All you have to do is fry these and powder it, store it. How to take it?        Have one spoon of the powdered mixture with hot water everyday 3 times after food. You can add jaggery to taste.  Try this for 15 days and believe me your gastric problems will be solved. Thank you Doctor Praveen Babu for the video on this and also to 'Ayurveda tips in Kannada' channel.

Living Simply!

Ah, who doesn't want a stress free and happy life? Everyone does, me too. I just happen to hit that phase of life when things were not adding up. I have always been inspired by the famous quotes and stumbled upon the concept of 'Simple Living' to make our life worthy to live.   Why choose Simple living?       - Choosing the life full of values        - Living a healthy life       - Want some quality time with family or friends       - Just want a life filled with simplicity       - It could be a matter of your personal taste or character       - Influence of spirituality or bored with materialistic lifestyle       - Contribution towards the environment thru sustainability Made using Flyer Maker app      Whatever was your reason to choose it, one thing is for certain that living simply will help you gain more with less rather than the other ...

Revolutionizing the trends!

Yesterday I wanted to buy a casual T-shirt that I can wear at home and went to the usual brand Jockey (yes, am guilty for not promoting local). I was shown various colors but what stood out was prominently 3 colors - green (fluorescent you can say), yellow (desert sun as they promote it) and orange rust (or saffron to be precise as per Indian context).  I had a green so did not want to repeat it, so I choose orange. Due to obvious reasons(COVID-19) trial of the T-shirt was not allowed in the shop, so I came back to home for trial. On wearing it did I realize that the how localized Jockey has been in terms of color....saffron has been a traditional Hindu color. Saffron is now being promoted as color of 'Hindutva', thou I don't want to politicize my blog on the color context. Ha ha, haven't we seen sufficient color controversies in the world lately?        From the promotions of the brand point of view, Jockey has hit the bull's eyes. It has loc...
