Selling - change in the trends!

'Hey, good morning, how are you doing?' asked the fifth avenue guy on my way to office in the lift.     'Hi there, doing great, the coffee is still in my head and keeping me awake' came the reply from my dear friend who had slogged the whole night before to finish up the presentation he had to give to the client. It was a make or break deal for him today.      'Awesome, hope you have a good day ahead' was the reply as his floor came and was about to leave us.      'Thank you, you too, have a good one' my friend replied again.      I was keenly observing the conversation and wondering what next. I knew my friend was a great conversation starter and a finisher but the 3 hour sleep he had, I wish he was fine to give the demo today.      Back to office, I saw him heading to the marketing head's cabin to finalize the deck. With the kind of pressure these sales team have with respect to the targets and closing...

Future of learning

Image
Future is ....  - World is changing at a pace that is unalarming in this 21st century. Uncertainty and complex situations are expected at a fast pace. Institutions are expected to adapt themselves and make way for future learners and tutors to adapt to it as well, emphasizing on learning.  - Students will become life long learners. Needs, preferences, choices and way of learning is changing among the learners. There short attention span, technologically exposure and engagement thru social media making learners (students) more vulnerable to focus less and ability to concentration less.  Expectation is to coach them to become creative problem solvers who adapts to any situation. - Tutors are expected to change from teaching to coaching the learners to think creatively, solve problems, adapt to new ways of learning (tutors to self learn as well as coach this).  They design challenging activities for learners to crack it.  - Content is expected to change to adapt to...

A beginner's mindset - Zen

Image
There say "When life gives you lemon, make a lemonade out of it". Most of us suffer in life due to the high expectations of ourselves or trying to match the expectations set by your surrounding people.  What if there is an alternative to this? Wouldn't it be just great to embrace it.     Nature has a solution to every problem we face. Its just that while growing up, we (humans) lose the sense of observation. Look at the tree and the Sun. Tree gives shelter to everyone, no bias even if he is a criminal. Sun shines every morning and doesn't take a holiday to rest. A flower blooms and doesn't worry if the next one is brighter or bigger than itself. Its obvious that Mother Nature has a lot to offer. Its just our limitation of mind that is hold us back to learn from it. Photo courtesy- internet      Aren't we entangled a lot in the mess cre ated by ourselves? We tend to fall in to our own trap and live a miserable life. For instance, Corona ...

Kids today - Opportunity to learn anything?

Isn't it a great time to be a kid again? Imagine what all you can feed your curiosity and fill your thirst in today's world. Of course, I am talking about the knowledge and application of it. Kids today can learn what an adult learns. To the extent that there are opportunities to even open your own company. I kind of like what life is throwing up to them.      If you look at it from another perspective, probably it is quiet easy to feel lost in the midst of options available as a kid today. Too many choices available and yes focus will play the keep role here.  How about going thru few options as below? Lidolearning.com - A platform for kids to learn coding, maths, english and science in a fun way  Uable.com - A platform where kids can become creative ___.  You fill the ___ as storyteller, artist, astronomer .... u name it you put it. Momjunction.com/online-classes - Here you get any class for mostly Rs 99....do u want ur kids to lea...

Sensuality at its best!

Image
Photo courtesy - Pinterest What defines sensual to you? For me, it's this picture. Do I need words to explain this? Does it bring a smile to your face too? Or maybe it brings out God's exclusive creativity in making her so beautiful. Let me give you the background of this pic. It is a saree advertisement. But the way it is presented is great. But the photographer could have made it better by contrasting the background color. It does exhibit the traditional saree and the women to say in a most sensual form, but the missing ingredient is definitely the contrasting background. Nevertheless, her arched back with the blouse design and the hair braid, just adds the necessary ingredients to make it look great. Doesn't the beauty lie in the eyes of the beholder? God has created beauty to view and enjoy. It is in you to identify it.

Lockdown - a blessing in disguise

Image
The perception of how you look at life matters. Let me take you to the opportunity the Covid lockdown is giving us.  We are made to stay back home and enjoy the family time. Get to know your kids, wife, parents from a closer perspective. Enjoy the meals together, play some indoor games, cook together, learn something new, teach each other...there are many to add to this list. The most enjoyable moments are the ones which you spend time with your loved ones at least for me.      On the other side, I always cribbed being in the office environment where I felt lonely. I never enjoyed travelling to office. Oh, those long hours of travel still makes me feel sick. Then the ones in office that are preying on you. Sic! Felt like vomiting. Boredom in the work environment is obvious for me.        Thanks to Covid, being at home and occasionally going out made me happier. Even yesterday I enjoyed the plate full of pani puri when I...

Great civilizations - why do they fail?

Yesterday I watched the historical drama film 'Agora' released in 2009 that was originally in Spanish and translated to English. The movie revolves around a philosopher, mathematician and astronomer called Hypatia, played by Rachel Weisz, during the Roman empire and her discoveries to understand heliocentric model of solar system in the midst of turmoil of religious unrest. Its quiet unfortunate that such a great civilization which was so advanced in thinking, culture and acceptance was lost to the mob riots. As the movie depicts, Roman empire has taught us gender equality, social acceptance, creative and forward thinking but also the other side of the fall due to religious intolerance and unguided domination.       Agora, named after public gathering in ancient Greece (Alexandria in particular), is an exceptionally great movie to understand why civilizations have failed in the past. Roman empire prospered as it was more advanced than other cultures. B...

Gastric problem - home remedy that worked for me!

I always believed in the home remedies and here is one that I found worked for Gastric. My type of gastric is more of gas rather than acid.  Ingredients needed are - 5 tablespoon each of      a) Black Jeera     b) Ajwain     c) Dry Ginger     d) Fennel All you have to do is fry these and powder it, store it. How to take it?        Have one spoon of the powdered mixture with hot water everyday 3 times after food. You can add jaggery to taste.  Try this for 15 days and believe me your gastric problems will be solved. Thank you Doctor Praveen Babu for the video on this and also to 'Ayurveda tips in Kannada' channel.

Living Simply!

Image
Ah, who doesn't want a stress free and happy life? Everyone does, me too. I just happen to hit that phase of life when things were not adding up. I have always been inspired by the famous quotes and stumbled upon the concept of 'Simple Living' to make our life worthy to live.   Why choose Simple living?       - Choosing the life full of values        - Living a healthy life       - Want some quality time with family or friends       - Just want a life filled with simplicity       - It could be a matter of your personal taste or character       - Influence of spirituality or bored with materialistic lifestyle       - Contribution towards the environment thru sustainability Made using Flyer Maker app      Whatever was your reason to choose it, one thing is for certain that living simply will help you gain more with less rather than the other ...

Revolutionizing the trends!

Yesterday I wanted to buy a casual T-shirt that I can wear at home and went to the usual brand Jockey (yes, am guilty for not promoting local). I was shown various colors but what stood out was prominently 3 colors - green (fluorescent you can say), yellow (desert sun as they promote it) and orange rust (or saffron to be precise as per Indian context).  I had a green so did not want to repeat it, so I choose orange. Due to obvious reasons(COVID-19) trial of the T-shirt was not allowed in the shop, so I came back to home for trial. On wearing it did I realize that the how localized Jockey has been in terms of color....saffron has been a traditional Hindu color. Saffron is now being promoted as color of 'Hindutva', thou I don't want to politicize my blog on the color context. Ha ha, haven't we seen sufficient color controversies in the world lately?        From the promotions of the brand point of view, Jockey has hit the bull's eyes. It has loc...

Kriti – Freedom at Stake

Here is a short story I wrote for " Workplace discrimination based on Gender diversity" but did not provide it to my professor as I selected my colleague's work. Hence I take the liberty to post it in my blog. Worth a read. -------------------------------------------- ------ - --------------------------------- Freedom at stake ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------                 Kriti just got down from her office car after being late at office today and rang the door bell of her PG, when she heard her paying guest landlord came bashing at her “What work do respected girls do at night and get dropped so late at night? If this repeats as I have been seeing, you might have to look for a different accommodation.” “Sigh”, came the response from Kriti looking at her mobile which showed 2 am and thought ‘not again, why do I have to keep explaining her?   When ...
