Who Am 'I'?

I just met a stranger on one of the social media platforms lately. With the introductions around, I asked him who he was. He started with his work, nature of work, how he lost his job a year ago etc. I again asked him, who he was, as his work does not define who he is.     The biggest question is 'Who am "I"?'. Is the 'I', the work, the person in you, the qualities in you, the superficial ego in you?  Let me define the 'I' in me:   I am a human being   I am a dad, son, husband (roles in life)   I am a nature lover    I am a foodie   I am a blogger   I am an artist (pencil sketcher to be precise)   .... the list goes on. We are so much more in life than what we work and the titles that we hold in our job. We are Humans first.  Spirituality the words 'I am' has a very powerful impact on our minds. It is said that if you attach another verb to 'I am' then it influences your way of living thru manifestations. Few of t...

Kannad gothilla - Love for language

Image
Ah, what a great morning to wake up to when you read an article in the newspaper that touches your heart. Yes its 29th May today and the paper is TOI with article being "No more 'Kannad gothilla',...". Its just too good to see outsiders in Karnataka starting to learn Kannada, our language. In the midst of decline of few of the languages, I appreciate and grateful for those who started learning. Courtsey - Times of India Newspaper       A reuter blog  talks about a survey from People's Linguistic Survey of India where more than 220 languages are lost in  just 50 years and another 150 is due in next 50. Is it got to do with the diminishing capabilities of reading, writing or rather the love for languages?  Well, if you read the reuter blog its all those and nomadic culture to a great extent.  The decline of language is mostly seen in the coastal areas and in the nomadic people group. Added to that if your next gene...

Popularity - would it really define your future income online?

About couple of months back when I was going to a temple with my family through a nearby village, I happened to see some young folks hardly around 20 years of age with camera. At some distance there was another group with their mobile phones hanging and a young fellow capturing a video of his friends dancing. What stuck me is the craze these young generation are showing to make videos for online platforms.       Let us deep dive a bit. Are these folks here for money or popularity or both? What is driving them to become short video makers which are hardly a minute or two? Of course, its the money and then the idea that they can become popular quiet fast and easily. But isn't it a misnomer. Don't you think this path is quiet misleading.      What is even more depressing is to think that every body can monetize money thru online platforms like Tiktok,  Instagram or YouTube. Yes few of them succeed, but its very handful of them....

Living (he)artfully

I thank God for giving humans a break. I know many agree with me as this lock down phase or the Covid-19 effect is showing us what we as humans need to introspect. I can hear the sound of the birds chirping at my house, even heard that the Yamuna river is now 50% less populated. Look at the Bangalore air, we have 60% less pollution. Can't we as Human Beings, being part of this Universe, give back this much to the mother Nature? The least we can do is stay home for at least a month or a couple of it, to save it.       Mother Nature knows how to balance the karma as per the laws. It is indeed shameful that we were forced to obey. We being the most intelligent species on the planet should have learnt how to survive without spoiling it. But unfortunately our egos did not let it be so. Instead we were humbled forcefully by Her. I just hope at least we learn now.        Macro economically, a country's progress need not have to b...

Don't you agree? We humans think we want to use our so called expertise in Science, Bio technology, AI to tap into every corner of what God's gift is.         Yes I am referring to today's news - Mustard is set to become the first Genetically Modified food  and Indian government is on the verge of approving this. To me this is a disaster in the making, asking for trouble from the mother nature as you are tampering the ecological system. Let me substantiate this...these Genetically Modified (GM for short) foods are pests/insects resistance. I might keep the bad pests away but what about those bees which help...
