Aha...need more of sustainable villages and not AI

I just happen to watch a good speech by Andrew Ng on youtube on AI & how it can empower businesses of any scale. Please watch it before you read my blog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reUZRyXxUs4     All due respect to him, we don't need democratization of AI, but democratization of sustainable villages (like Auroville experimental village in India) as we are impacting the environment/natural resources in the name of AI. Humans don't need more education but rather less of it. We need more of wisdom & values than education.     Man is known for his 'constructive destruction' nature...and we call this as evolving. Being an Indian, I believe in ancient wisdom of ours. Even the bell curve applied to a human life tells us once you reach a certain height of gaining information or knowledge, the next step is to let go of it. After all, wisdom comes only with let go.     We are on the wrong path by giving aw...

Ready to laugh at yourself!

Did you look at your face today in the mirror when you got up? I did. My hair stood out like a Rockstar's spiky hairstyle. After all I am happy I did not had to spend Rs500 at saloon for this. My own  early morning look at times amazes me.            When I look back at my life journey, I know things did not work out the way I wanted it to be. But isn't it part of the bigger plan that I mapped out to? Rather than worrying for the things not in control of myself, it it indeed a blessing that meditation is helping me to let go of things. Ever made a fool of yourself, if the answer is 'no', believe me you have not lead your life to the fullest.           Smile, life is just a play. We are damn too serious in it. Relax, just have fun.              After all, the design is meant for us to be happy. Do what makes you happy.            ...

There lies beauty in everything, only few can see it!

Art or Heart! "It takes a heart to understand an art" - my own quote.      Do you believe that art can destress a human? If not, start believing in it. It does wonders. It heals, conquers, encapsulates, frees the soul. Ever felt like you spent 5 minutes but actually, you had spent 2 hours, art can do that for me. I would like to call that an 'Art Therapy'.     Just the sheer messy hands, few scribbles, don't actually make us an artist. It is what lies beneath the skin, the creative thinking ability, imaginary concepts, theme behind the sketches, cause attached to the artifact, etc.    The pleasure of viewing and creating something out of just ordinary stuff is so satisfying and fulfilling. The love, beauty, sensuality, creativity just keeps on going. I found a passion for creating some sketches for sure. Do write to me if you see beauty in everything around you?       Let the art flourish!

What makes a teacher great?

Image
Let us take a walk thru our school days. Do you remember a teacher who inspired you? What incident or the quality of her/him did you like? It's obvious you remember her/him for making a difference in your life. However small the difference could be.        I am experimenting with myself to become a teacher. I loved teaching (or training) my friends in school and colleagues in the office. But taking it formally requires some effort. I feel more than the effort, it is the sheer love and passion that can carry you on.     In my quest of learning and experimentation to become a good teacher, I watched a lot of TEDx talks on how to become a good teacher. Few of these TED talks inspired me to write this blog. The credits go to them.  First one being    " Teaching Methods for Inspiring the Students of the Future"   by  Joe Ruhl @ TEDxLafayette . Lockdown - a blessing in disguise

Image
The perception of how you look at life matters. Let me take you to the opportunity the Covid lockdown is giving us.  We are made to stay back home and enjoy the family time. Get to know your kids, wife, parents from a closer perspective. Enjoy the meals together, play some indoor games, cook together, learn something new, teach each other...there are many to add to this list. The most enjoyable moments are the ones which you spend time with your loved ones at least for me.      On the other side, I always cribbed being in the office environment where I felt lonely. I never enjoyed travelling to office. Oh, those long hours of travel still makes me feel sick. Then the ones in office that are preying on you. Sic! Felt like vomiting. Boredom in the work environment is obvious for me.        Thanks to Covid, being at home and occasionally going out made me happier. Even yesterday I enjoyed the plate full of pani puri when I...

Kannad gothilla - Love for language

Image
Ah, what a great morning to wake up to when you read an article in the newspaper that touches your heart. Yes its 29th May today and the paper is TOI with article being "No more 'Kannad gothilla',...". Its just too good to see outsiders in Karnataka starting to learn Kannada, our language. In the midst of decline of few of the languages, I appreciate and grateful for those who started learning. Courtsey - Times of India Newspaper       A reuter blog  talks about a survey from People's Linguistic Survey of India where more than 220 languages are lost in  just 50 years and another 150 is due in next 50. Is it got to do with the diminishing capabilities of reading, writing or rather the love for languages?  Well, if you read the reuter blog its all those and nomadic culture to a great extent.  The decline of language is mostly seen in the coastal areas and in the nomadic people group. Added to that if your next gene...

A company man - Korean movie review

I love movies...Korean movies are something that I have been loving it more recently. My favorities being action oriented thrillers and a drama. I got to see all of them in one movie....it is called ' A Company Man '. It being a Korean movie was icing on the cake.     The best part of this movie is the contrast that is shown between job and love. Do you love you job if it has two sides to it? One side is to show the world that you are a simple metal trading company and on the other side is the deadly assassinations that are carried out. Look at the camouflage at the company level. Even better is the main character's dilemma that is shown who is initially torn between his murderous job and love for his singing.       The way the movie goes on is show beautifully with how the main character wants to save the 20 year old kid and his family. To what extent he goes on to try and save them. Interestingly the film is woven between the conflicts that ar...
