Oh lord Ganesha, save my Microgreens...
"Those greeny little fellows are a treat to harvest", was my first initial thought on harvesting the microgreens couple of weeks back. Yes, my experiment to grow microgreens on couple of trays worked out well. All GREENS in first harvest. It was fenugreek & radish microgreens in the first harvest. I was definitely anxious on how it would come out. Bingo, my first experiment was a huge success.
By the way, you should have tasted my microgreens chutney, it was awesome...on of my innovative south Indian style that I tried. To add to my cooking innovations, microgreens mosarubajji (a type of salad) was great too. Fenugreek ones are a bit bitter, but healthy when added to any food. Do suggest any innovations here?
Being fairly confident from my first harvest, in second one, I tried fenugreek and chia. Made a few mistakes that I can add to my learnings:

a) Never soak a chia seeds before sowing....due to its soft outer shell that forms, sprouting becomes a challenge. Discarded it and sowed again without soaking.
b) Also placing them in right spot matters. I made a second mistake of placing it in my balcony. An easy access to rodents outside the home. The little Jerry was at play in the night. Bottom rack tray had chia seeds and it fiddled a lot to destroy them. My second learning was to cover the racks with tiles during night time, as am keeping it in corridor.
c) In spite of second sowing of chia seeds, the ones that did escape our night hawks, sprouted well. But chia isn't an easy one to harvest. The stems are too thin to do so. Well, my learnings for chia microgreens, was a good one indeed.
Now with these two conquests, can I call myself a green farmer (lol)? Nevertheless, a proud harvester, for sure, even if its only twice that I have harvested. What's say? Am enjoying the process rather than the results.
Life definitely tests us in many ways. It's how we react and learn, that matters. I have already put on my philosophical hat now.
With my spiritual hat, I pray to Lord Ganesha. As fest in on the verge and am going to pray HIM to stop his vahana's plays for my third and future harvests..."oh please Ganesha, spare my little greeny fellas".
