Future of learning
Future is ....
- World is changing at a pace that is unalarming in this 21st century. Uncertainty and complex situations are expected at a fast pace. Institutions are expected to adapt themselves and make way for future learners and tutors to adapt to it as well, emphasizing on learning.
- Students will become life long learners. Needs, preferences, choices and way of learning is changing among the learners. There short attention span, technologically exposure and engagement thru social media making learners (students) more vulnerable to focus less and ability to concentration less. Expectation is to coach them to become creative problem solvers who adapts to any situation.
- Tutors are expected to change from teaching to coaching the learners to think creatively, solve problems, adapt to new ways of learning (tutors to self learn as well as coach this). They design challenging activities for learners to crack it.
- Content is expected to change to adapt to the learner's needs, preferences by disrupting the wordings to visualization. Imagine the content being displayed using augmented reality (or 3D holograms) on your goggle or a watch rather than current laptop 2D screens. How about adding the more dimensions to activate your senses thru smell, touch or even taste?
- Tools & technology will aid the learners, tutors for the content to be available anywhere, anytime. You may argue that its already there today on the mobile. But I am visualizing a holographic watches, augmented reality goggles that can narrate the content visually on the go. Technology will only aid their learning process to become more fast paced.
Education system will change with more emphasis on learning rather than the current emphasis on teaching. Expect the unexpected in the VUCA world that will make us a life long learners and fast adaptors.
The pinnacle of learning is to Creating something as explained by Dr. Benjamin Bloom in his six levels of educational understanding model below.

P.S. 1) I found my inspiration to think on 'future of learning' from this article "Creating is the Highest form of learning" by Jay Michaelson on Medium.com. Credit goes to Jay for inspiring me to think on what would the learning process hold for us.
P.S. 2) I also found this article extremely insightful - "THE FUTURES OF LEARNING 1" by Cynthia Luna Scott to write my blog
