GST - politics or business - who won?

India is being looked by the world as a country that has huge potential to consistently grow among the developing nations. What makes us so special? Our economy has been able to sustain the global slowdowns effectively. Our foundation has been strong enough to see through the sneeze of the USA or the fire of the Chinese dragon. Talented younger population, optimistic approach along with keen to grow making us one of the top rated developing nations. The World Bank report ranked India as the 130th nation among the ease of doing business in 2016. Yes we have improved from our previous position of 134th rank. Aren't we pleased to see a small jump? Why would not we be?  Lets celebrate over it. Let us look at where we improved upon in the last one year - starting a new business we jumped by about 9 ranks, getting electricity jumped by 29 ranks (yes you read it right - 29) and few others. Now let us look at the main point we slipped by one rank when it comes to the paying taxes. We ...

Aatagara - Kannada movie that is worth watching!

After many years I saw a Kannada movie on the big screen...usual habit of me is to watch is on the TV screen. My wife told me - lets go to Aatagara - as she had read the review. We had to choose it as that was the only movie which fit into our schedule on a sunday evening.  It might just be a stroke of luck that we got two adjacent seats on a houseful day. Believe me it was an absolute thriller and kept us on the edge of the seat. What a performance by the cast crew! The cast looks so perfectly suited and it just looks to me that we have a range of good Kannada movies coming by one after the other. Anu Prabhakar, Prakash Belavadi, Chiranjeevi Sarja, Meghana Raj and Parul Yadav have acted well. Sadu Kokila gives us the necessary comedy punch. Nice to see Ananth Nag's acting to his style and deliver us a message that is well deserved for today's Kannada people. Dwarkish production is back with a bang after long time. Graphics is well done too in this thriller. Hats o...

Aliens as we know it!

All thanks to the project which Yuri Milner has started to find out that alien species that might be hidden somewhere. As you might have already read in the papers Yuri Milner is a Russian billionaire who is investing in the $100 million funded project to find aliens. Milky way is just a tip of the iceberg in this universe of galaxies. Who knows we might have a species on the other galaxy far away from us. Imagine that you do find a species so unique and would like to communicate with it. I definitely liked the idea that some billionaire at last has funded for something more meaningful like this. He has in fact collaborated with the famous cosmologist of our times Stephen Hawking too in this research. Was Yuri thinking about an alternate universe when he tied up with Stephen Hawking to find the aliens? It might definitely need a time and space travel to meet this other species in the other galaxy. Who better to help us on this than our physicist Stephen Hawking....

Essence of a newspaper!

Every morning starts when the newspaper boy throws the morning news on your doorstep. With a coffee in one hand and the pleasure of reading the paper on the other hand is just the best way to start the day. As a kid I always loved the sports page, with cricket and then tennis. Reading about Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Pete Sampras was just as thrilling as the Sachin Tendulkar making a century. Growing up I happen to get fascinated with the science articles that used to be published in these papers. But later on found that some of these articles are still in research, something like a hypothesis which is yet to be proved. Hmmm that makes me think again why publish such articles at all. There are a few rumours that Indian newspapers are biased towards the few parties which makes me think are these news true. Anyway I never bothered much about the political news. Hardly mattered to me till few years back. Why this whole drama of publishing, when the newspapers do not worry ab...

India's true potential...are you kidding?

Spirituality, a new phenomenon which India has given to this world. Yoga, ayurvedic medicine, even the number '0' are few significant contribution India has made. Not to mention our mission on mars(MOM) was the least cost effective program which is also considered one of the most innovative way India has shown this world on how to save money. Just a thought, hasn't our IT sector already showed the world on saving money? India has given Srimad Bhagwadgita to the world of philosophy, Chess to the world of sports, Kamasutra to the world of sex, Tikka masalas to the world of taste to name a few. Our human resources has given strength to the back bone of IT service sector, not to forget the new raising IT startups that are giving the USA a chill in the spine. No wonder we are attracting so much funding from Venture capitalist and Angel investors from outside. Being in India if you are thinking the latest trend of being in IT sector can fetch y...

Kaapi katte...a true coffee experience!!!

What a great start to my day today with an aromatic coffee at Kaapi katte...a popular coffee shop at Rajarajeswari Nagar.  I love the lattee at Café coffee day thou I do not take coffee everyday at my house.  These are the two places I just love to have my coffee and I prefer it light. Just a nice way to start my day with either light coffee or with a lemon tea. It makes me feel like am on cloud nine(I always wondered the use of number nine here...why not ten? :)). Believe me I just did a google search to figure out the origin of the phrase 'on cloud nine' and found that meteorologist classified these clouds based on numbers and altitudes...it appeared to them that cloud number nine was always on a higher altitude. Wow, that explains and nice gyan for today!!! Let me come back to the ground realities after walking my way on the cloud. People around the world appreciate Starbucks about the coffee house experience that it gives....believe me Café Coffee Day i...

Table no 21....an interesting thriller!!!

I am pretty sure you have watched a Bollywood movie named Table no 21. If not,I suggest please do so. A beautifully scripted movie with a nice message in it. Paresh Rawal has acted pretty decently in the movie and what makes it such a nice watch is the way the movie keeps you on your toes. Rajeev Khandelwal and Tina Desai do add the necessary glamour to the movie. A reality shows is quiet a good theme in movies but this one has something to learn from it. Ragging, can be so cruel when it is done on a soft heart which is yet to see the ruthless world. As per our Indian constitution, article 21 does not permit it either. Can you even imagine being ragged so repeatedly that you let a person half dead much before his actual death occurs? The movie revolves around the theme of ragging and how Paresh Rawal who is Mr. Khan in the movie let Rajeev and Tina realise their mistakes they did during their college days which has caused his son to be half dead. I just loved the w...

Standard of living ...

For few life is how they live it - few find it interesting to live by rules, few care free and few making their own rules. Which type are you? Whatever you choose is neither good nor bad...as life is how you think it is. It is said that spiritually progress is the only true education and improvement one should seek in life philosophically. As per Hindu dharma which does believe in rebirth after life it is also believed that only spiritual work done in this life is carried over to a man's next life. Oh...wish I had studied less in my engineering and more of Srimad Bhagwadgita. No am not kidding as I believe in life after rebirth and karmas. What makes me stick to these rules laid out in spiritual books? Isn't it interesting to know that with all the gifts that God has bestowed upon us, we still think we need an external power to overcome our difficulties?  Why is it so? Answer lies in the past life karmas... High thinking and simple living is said to be the best way...

New phase of life!!!

Today is a new beginning for me. It is good to see every day as a new challenge in life to face it with more enthusiasm, optimistic outlook. Let me reiterate thou every day is a new challenge....today seems more like I am starting a different phase of life. I am starting my project work today for the post graduation am doing...it involves extensive involvement and want to give my best within the limited data I got from the industry guide. Surprisingly it happens to be my uncle in whose company I am doing the project work. International marketing being my area of project work, it is not easy to get the required data for it.  Hoping for the best and with God's grace let me see what I can do about it. Life is getting more interesting for me. New beginnings ....ah! didn't I enjoy always the new starts and new explorations. With that said let me pray to lord Ganesha, who removes any obstacles in the path. Wishing myself the very best of luck!!!  (Isn't that too selfis...

Love teaches you!!!

Deepest love that comes with whole heart has changed many in the history. I always thought I was too soft to fall for such stupidity as love. Have you ever felt so moved by love that you start loving yourself much more that you thought you would. In this midst of the hatred and backstabbing people I found solace within myself in the most unlikely scenario. Living all by myself in this small world of mine (i.e. my bedroom) has made me more bored than I could think of.  Suddenly a ray of hope came in when my Guru asked me to translate a spiritual book written in Kannada into English.  I never had written a spiritual line in my whole life and here I am asked to translate a whole book. Today I thank him on completing the translation and bringing up something in me that I never thought I was. Call it a deepest devotion or love for your Guru but these words are coming with my new found inspirations from him. It is again my own words........I am happy today t...

Calmess before the storm!!!

Yesterday was probably the most saddest day of my life.... Life teaches a lot over a period of time but few incidents in life leave a mark in the deepest insides. I wish I would have deleted the day in my life chapter if there was one such button. On a positive note yesterday's incident has made me realise that life is not about those incidents that leave a bitter taste in your tongue but remembering sweetest ones. Life as such is so enriching and thanks to my wife who is inspiring me to put these words on the paper. I never knew I was capable enough to jot down these until she is showed me her blog and asked me to open a new one. Deepest sorrows changes a person, some are so deep that they even can move the world by revolutionising not just one person but his whole community... Silence gives me strength but at times I do lose my temper for such minor mishaps that I feel ashamed of myself.  But let me tell you that this feeling of being ashamed of myself helped me today...
