Education Costs...
If you have read my previous blogs, I talk about getting bored too often which eventually leads to fulfilling some craving in me. Today I felt the same and started doing research on what should I do next academically, now that I have an executive post graduate diploma in management or EPGDM in short.
Geographically now that I am in Hyderabad, I thought of looking for the prestigious ISB (Indian School of Business). A PGP-Pro for working professionals costs around 25 lakhs in INR and imagine this - my experience in terms of years has overshooted the minimum eligibility criteria and had to look for next best option - PGP-Max. A program for executives in ISB, PGP-Max, would not cost less than 35 lakh in INR. Thats a wow!!! Hmmm...interesting to know that knowledge is weighted with your experience level.
On the other side, I see so many school, college drop outs who are super successful in life. Take for example Sachin Tendulkar, Bill Gates. Isn't it a wonder that formal education is not a necessity to achieve your goal? Some may say "maybe it was in their destiny". I wouldn't disagree to them. But the real question here is how much of the formal education in schools and colleges are teaching us to be successful?
I was reading an article which my school friend had shared in whatsapp today. Here is the link to the article - Science Congress: 14-yr-old girl discovers magic of ‘Om’ - Times of India. The essence of this article is in the discovery of meditation and its benefits to our health. Best part of this article is that it was found out by a 14 year old girl. Does age matter for discovery or invention? Yes agreed she was a keen observer who was curious to find out the secrets of the priests were able to carry water for 68 kms without tiring. Doesn't an education of this sort help the world more than the usual stuffing-the-memory ones?
Well when I started this post my intention was to highlight the costs of formal education which later led me to think 'isn't today's formal education already costing us?' Hahaha....yes am being a bit sarcastic but yet truthful.
Do let me know your thoughts on this....
