"Law Abiding Citizen"

A hollywood movie that was released in 2009 is too good to be missed if you like crime thrillers. Gerard Butler is at his best playing the character of Clyde Shelton with Jamie Foxx in supporting role. In my opinion, Jamie was in the supporting role while the lead character was played by Gerard. Yeah many would not agree to the path Clyde Shelton took in order to teach a lesson, but isn't it fair enough on his part to take justice in his hands when the whole system fails.
A simple story of a man who loves his family more than anything in this world is brought down to his knees when the judiciary system does not support the truth. What would you have done in this case? Look at it from Indian context, am sure we see so many such cases on a day to day basis where in justice is not done. Is Gandhigiri an answer to this? Mahatma Gandhi did what he had to do during his times but am not saying violence and destruction is an answer to injustice as well. But no man in Clyde's position would have tolerated this either.
Can you fight fate? I think you can, with the right will and intention. I liked the scene where Clyde makes a deal with Nick (Jamie) whose arrogance was to be broken in order to teach the lesson and bring him back on the right track. Clyde always knew Nick is a good guy who was doing the wrong deals owing to his circumstances. A beautiful thriller with excellent dialogues, action packed with a clear message for judicial system to do their job.
In the end we all know that Clyde dies due to the path he took. But for me, he is still the hero and he made his point before he dies. Am sure you would agree that sometimes you need to teach a lesson thru tough means. The old generation gurus would agree for sure. In the Indian context, Kautilya has suggested these four Upayas(diplomacy) - Sama(meaning alliances), Dana(meaning compensation or gifts), Bheda(meaning divide and rule), Danda (meaning punishment or using force). Danda is the technique often used last.
Hope to see such a story being made in Bollywood. A good message conveyed thru movies is always well accepted by audience especially in India. Good should prevail finally else there are few who take it to their hands to make it right.
Watch this crime drama thriller if you have not seen yet.  Let me know your opinion too.
