Avarekalu Usli - a traditional mouthwatering dish

       It is december and what better for us Kannadigas than to savor the taste of the avarekalu usli. It is our pride dish and is best enjoyed with the akki roti. When prepared in the traditional way at home with the right amount of butter, it is just finger licking good.          I am sure the foodies in Karnataka love this very much. Not to mention it is a common house dish prepared across Karnataka especially during December & January of every year. The avarekayi or the seed is usually available at this time of the year.
         It takes me back to my childhood memories of this dish being prepared with lots of butter making it the perfect breakfast recipe with akki roti. It also goes well with the dosa, chapati but the correct combo would be with akki roti.
