Stage set for next war!
"War is coming", no, am not referring to the Game of Thrones ad here. But the real war is going to come. Lest we should be prepared. This one is for sure not between countries nor between regions but it will come. I suspect this war would be to show how unbalanced our the economic situation is. I Hope it ends and will not lead to our extinct.
The world today as we see is growing to become more in-equal w.r.t income we earn. As of today, the richest 3 Americans are equivalent to 50% of the bottom in terms of money. Is it fair?
The richest 1% of the global population received 82% of wealth created in 2017, while nothing went to the poorest half (3.7 billion) of humanity, according to a new study by the global charity Oxfam.
Don't you see the stage being set for the hunger vs wealthy? The pace at which the rich are accumulating the wealth is the real worry. Not to be sarcastic, but this greedy in trying to achieve the dominance is making the rich fatty but in a wrong way. The real power does not lie in your wealth or innovation but in enabling the poor to lead a decent life. It is not the money that lies with the rich that would leverage the world peace but the intent to do good with it.
A good news is that the world poverty rate fell by 80% from 26.8% in 1970 to 5.4% in 2006 as per the report. But the rate at which the rich is accumulating the wealth is making the poor much poorer by the day. Clearly the gap between the rich and poor is widening more.
Take Africa for example. The Governments are creating the monopoly by amassing the wealth of the people. The advantage the Governments and their aids have in these African countries over the private companies is enormous. The Portuguese/French/British possessions and colonies that ruled these countries during the early 18th and 19th centuries played a key role in this divide between rich and poor.
“The African countries that are the poorest today are the ones from which the most slaves were taken,” as quoted by professor of economics Nathan Nunn in his study of Africa's economic development.
Exploitation thru colonization has led to many Africans believing that they were better off with being ruled than without. Isn't that a pity?
Looks like China is mirroring the same model to acquire the natural resources that Africa is rich in especially platinum and cobalt...Africa is estimated to have 90% of the world's supply. We can only hope that the Chinese business model will create a win-win situation for African nations unlike the European nations who just exploited. Time would answer this.
To many entrepreneur, this(exploitation in the name of business) is just the way it works. But exploiting others is not the solution to the problem at hand. We hope to see a better way to improve the inequality that is raising in the world.
