Shiva - the absolute reality
We all know Shiva as the lord of destruction. But our knowledge seems limited in this aspect.
In Hinduism, every God and Goddess are understood in 4 standpoints at the least as explained by Swami Tejomayananda, Chinmaya Mission in his article.
(i) The Absolute - This is the highest standpoint of view and Lord Shiva is known as the pure consciousness in this view. He is the ultimate reality or the absolute truth.
(ii) The Cosmic - Here the Lord Shiva is the lord of the universe who is the creator, protector and destroyer.
(iii) The Departmental - This is where most of our knowledge resides and Lord Shiva is the 'Destroyer'.
(iv) The Incarnated - Gods are incarnated as the Avatars in this world to protect the Dharma and Lord Shiva has taken two forms - as Sri Adi Shankaracharya and as Dakshinamurthy Bhagwan.
Nevertheless, when our knowledge increases and when we transcend to higher state of consciousness, we start seeing advaita (or non-duality) in everything. That is the Absolute consciousness or rather purest form of vision. Imagine you seeing the souls in every animal on the planet and the living creatures. Love knowledge, discipline and/or devotion are just the path to take you to that state, but once you reach that state you seek only TRUTH, the absolute one. Isn't that the only reality that exists?
In my research of the topic 'The absolute truth', I found that the categories of right and wrong vanishes. It is only in the relative truth that we see what is right and what is wrong. The Absolute does not discriminate the two. In this point of view, there is only one reality. Whatever happens in this reality is bound to happen - doesn't matter whether its good or bad. That is the Ultimate Truth. Is it hard to understand?
Achieving this state is one thing. Staying there is another ball game all together. True meaning of Shiva is 'that which is not' or nothingness. Isn't that what the black hole is all about? It is the start and the end to the universe (materialistic) and nothingness or emptiness is the path to acquire pure consciousness. Even Buddhism has preached 'Sunyata' or voidness is the meditative mind to reach your goal.
Hope the Lord Shiva bless us all and give us the pure consciousness.
